We were so excited the first week of May when Grant started taking his first steps. He got up to about five steps, but after about a week he totally refused to even try. He would take one step, then drop and crawl. He was a speedy little crawler, so he probably didn't see the point of trying to walk-especially when it would ultimately end with him falling on his tush. The beginning of this month Grant finally started to try again, and now he has given up crawling completely and walks everywhere. Both Cole and Grant crawled for about six months before they finally walked, and boy was I ready for the walking. Crawling is the worst-they always want to be on the ground, their hands and knees get so dirty and gross, and they can't get down in public. I am so glad the crawling days are over. I am also relieved to finally stop worrying about if he is going to be able to walk independently. A year ago the first physical therapist he saw hinted that she thought he might need braces and maybe a walker, but he has proved her wrong. He loves being able to explore more outside. Today he insisted on playing basketball outside in the blazing heat; his poor face was bright red, but he was loving it.
